Vita.

Hey there!

My name is Dominik Fries. I'm a radio host/DJ in the Federal Republic of Germany..aka Germanistan (in case George W. reads this) :). Today I'm looking back on four very enthusiastic and interesting years at Radio 22/Hitradio 22/Radio Trier...or...Radio in Trier (the name changed amazingly often...not my fault though)/Antenne West. I managed to get a great deal of experience and skills with anything you could imagine that had something to do with radio. Wether it be Live Djing on air, hosting a radio show, presenting news, live coverage, sound producing, line producing, music editng and "joke" authoring in one...

My journey began as newscaster late August 2001. To my very surprise my boss gave me a very interesting task, just one month after joining the company: do your own prime time morning show...be the host! I was flattered and ...well a lil bit shocked at the same time.

WHO ME!!!???

The so called "Dominik Fries More Music Morning Show" was born. Amazing how much work that included. Wake up at 4AM in the morning, make coffee, prepare an entire 4 1/2 hour show, then "perform" and "present" it always in a fresh and good mood.

That isn't as easy as it often sounds on air. I learned to become patient and to focus on the moment. If I forget about that I might do silly mistakes, cause I break the verbosity thinking of the next 1'30 commercial break (is everything cued? do I have a drop ready after it etc.). But once you get a hang of it it's like driving a car.

Two years as morning show anchor passed - time for a new task: Drivetime - afternoon - early evening host! Finally I could get some sleep :))

In July 2004 I went to a nice newbie station on the block, Antenne Koblenz, roughly 100 kilometers away from my city. I worked there as one of the weekend hosts. In October 2004 I went on a great journey to California. My first time in the US. It was absolutely amazing and I definitely have to go back there one day.

Now I'm back and continue to work as freelance radio host / DJ and sound producer. I also worked as consultant and support specialist for the makers of Second Life -> Linden Research Inc. / Linden Lab from 2005 to 2010.

Currently working as freelance radio host for "The Radio Group", a German local radio chain in the state of Rhinland-Palatinate. I'm going to assume the drive time position from 4 - 7 PM at the new "CityRadio Trier 88.4".

That was a brief tour through my radio state of existance. If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email using this site.
